Hello there,
I’m Missy

Certified Personal Trainer

Following my heart and Passion

it makes perfect sense that I have become a personal trainer.

I spent 18 years in the Corporate World, “living the dream”. Like many other women, I prided myself on being independent and living that balanced life. I got to do all the things: buy a condo, travel the world. Yet, I was not fulfilled.

At the end of 2017, I finally made a very big change. I left the corporate world and my job as an Associate Director in IT (which is just a fancy way of saying I managed a small team of Business Analysts). I took a big leap of faith to pursue the exciting possibilities of starting my own business. I surrendered totally and happily to the universe telling me it was time to follow my heart and my passion.

My whole adult life I have been healthy and active. I have always been head over heels in love with working out. It knew it was time to professionally enter the Health and Fitness world. I began my journey by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM in February (of 2018), and most recently, I received my Behavior Change Specialist certification as well as StrongBoard Trainer and Group Trainer certifications.

the dyd difference

I meet clients where they are at in terms of fitness and confidence (mindset is everything!) and then smartly progress them from there. We usually spend the first month, at least, focusing on increasing stability, core strength, and improving cardio capacity. I am a big advocate for moving correctly, first and foremost, and as clients master movements, I will level them up! I am also not one of those trainers that will scream in your face, but I do push you. We never know what we can do unless we try.

training style

Workout styles vary from session to session and from client to client, but some of my favorite styles are HIIT,  Tabata (set work and set rest), and  AMRAP’s (As Many Reps As Possible). I love getting creative with programming and workouts are never exactly the same!

workout style

I undeniably learned so much in my past career that I will need in my new business. Managing, leading and mentoring people had been what kept me going for years. It has made me a great communicator, facilitator and role model. It makes perfect sense that I have become a Lifestyle and Fitness Coach and a Personal Trainer. It marries my experiences both professionally and personally.

I am absolutely addicted to CrossFit, which I do about 5-7 times a week. I am religious about taking Sundays as total rest days because our bodies need recovery as much as they need to workout. From time to time, I will go for a hike, a light run or climb some seriously daunting stairs. I basically spend more time in workout clothes than I do in anything else. Being active is the center of who I am.

I also LOVE writing (I minored in it in college). I have been blogging for years, and it is almost like another form of therapy for me in a different way than exercise. That also means you can most definitely expect some great content on my site in the blogs I post.

I moved to Los Angeles almost 9 years ago from New Jersey and the lifestyle here absolutely suits me. I do miss my family terribly, especially my 5 nieces and nephews. I do get to see them a few times a year, and thanks to FaceTime, I at least can virtually hang out with them many times a week.

I look forward to getting to know you!

Stay inspired,
Missy

marrying my experiences...

what people say

“Missy is amazing! I've been on the lookout for a cut-above trainer for a while. I seek workouts that are challenging yet creative and motivating (dare I say, fun) to do: enter Dig Your Deepest. Missy clearly has a ton of experience which shows in her ability to change things up while helping me steadily build strength and confidence in my ability to move well. She also has a high skill level in knowing and understanding proper form and can correct compensation patterns before they become a painful issue! Right now, I'm focused on balance and core strength. In 4 short weeks, I can already feel an improvement in both. If you are craving more physical activity and are still not getting to the gym, give Missy a call. It's worth the investment in your health and you'll feel great!”

what people say

“I cannot say enough great things about Missy! Her workouts really help me gain confidence in my weight training abilities and her calm nature keeps me going (even when I want to start blurting out obscenities )! I'm always sore, but reinvigorated after our sessions. I would recommend her to anyone wanting some 1:1 attention to get them started or wanting to take their workout to the next level.”

what people say

“Love love love Missy's classes! She programs workouts that are challenging, effective, and fun, and I look forward to them every week. I've been taking her classes for about 2 years, and have seen myself become stronger, more fit, and more energetic as a result. Thanks Missy!” - Violet M.

what people say

“I started training with Missy in a group setting at my work. She trained us in the conference room with minimal equipment, but the workouts were tough and efficient. We’ve recently switched to virtual trainings and I am just as satisfied with the workouts! I usually stick to 30 min classes. The workouts are creative and quick. I get bored working out at home, but Missy keeps me motivated and engaged. She is quick to correct my form and call me out when I’m being lazy, but she also recognizes my current limitations. She’s great at making adjustments on the spot and giving modifications for injuries. Definitely recommend!”

what people say

“Highly recommend Missy's group fitness classes! She's a great trainer--approachable, friendly, and fun, but still pushes you to do your best and improve each week. Her group classes are excellent for friends or corporate teams wanting to work out together.”

what people say

“Missy is the best find ever on NextDoor! I remember my first Personal Training session with her one year ago. I admittedly had a hard time getting through a few rounds of 1 minute of cardio. She never made me feel badly about it or like I was unfit. Missy programmed workouts for me that looked deceivingly easy on paper, but always managed to challenge me and leave me feeling accomplished. Within just a few months of working with her, I was able to do high intensity cardio workouts for a straight 20 minutes. We have transitioned to Virtual Training since COVID and it has been just as effective as in person. I have lost 30 pounds since training with Missy, including 10 pounds during this pandemic! She still can see me to make sure I am moving safely and it feels like she is right there with me. She brings a level of professionalism that is hard to find, and I always feel connected and supported by her. If you are looking for a trainer to get you excited about fitness I highly recommend Missy!”
